Anybody else who wants to show their support in this way, be my guest...

WELL this is one way to support your pen-scribbling pals.

MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL has taken part in a spoof lesbian orgy, as part of a video campaign supporting the Writer's Guild Association's strike.

In the clip, the Secretary star turns up to a hotel room to meet a man only to find two other beauties waiting to see the SAME fella.

The man called AMPiTePa - short for Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers - has stood them all up.

After a spell period of frustration, Maggie takes a swig from her glass of wine and says: "We don't need him. We've got everything we need right here.

"Girls - you want to make an interim agreement?"

The other ladies join her on the bed, but, as things start to get interesting, the lights fade and the film ends with a sexy pizza delivery girl entering the bedroom.

Mom, looking at bedding: Oooh, this one is nice.
Daughter: Mom, I'm getting married. I want to have sex. Lots of it. Hot, steamy, nasty, married-people sex. I just don't think I can do that on pastels.

11 Days Awake

What would happen if you stay awake, say, oh for 11 days straight? Would you suffer brain damage or even die? Here’s the story of a high school stunt that turned into a real scientific research into sleep deprivation from Alex Boese’s Elephants on Acid and Other Bizarre Experiments.

The worlds (un)luckiest man

On a cold January day in 1962, a Croatian music teacher named Frane Selak was traveling from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik by train. Well, that's where he thought he was going. Little did he know what he was actually about to embark upon a strange 40-year odyssey marked by freak accidents and near-death experiences.

Wait, that's the beginning?

Guy: Excuse me, I wanted to know if any black women would go out with me. If I were the last man on Earth, would you go out with me? [Black lady does not respond.] What if there were 20 minutes until the end of the world? [Still no response, so guy addresses another lady.] What about you? Would you go out with me?
Woman: What's the point?
Guy: Alright, let's start from the beginning... [Holding up gallon of apple juice] I have some apple juice -- will you split it with me?

Abandoned amusement parks

"The Southern Korean island of Geoje holds the remains of Okpo Land park. This amusement park sits on a ridge on the edge of Okpo City (pop. 200,000) in Geoje Island, for all to see. It has been closed since 1999, when the park's second fatality-causing accident saw a young girl fall off a chick-shaped skybike. The owner of the park shut it down and never paid the girl's family a cent."

The physics of sruviving a 500-foot plunge

It's a modern-day miracle. An Ecuadoran native who fell 500 feet from the upper reaches of a New York City skyscraper--and survived. By the time Alcides Moreno hit the alley behind the black-glass luxury apartment building, he was traveling upward of 124mph. Only about half of the people who fall off a four-story building make it. So how is it possible that Moreno is alive?

The answer has a lot to do with physics, luck and a 16-foot plank.

"Shockingly Pink" Dolphin Surfaces

A unique bottlenose dolphin calf—an albino who experts say may be one-of-a-kind—has taken up residence off Louisiana shores in the Gulf of Mexico, where charter boats and locals alike have been prowling the waters in hopes of a glimpse.

He's not just pink—he’s shockingly pink, especially when photographed swimming alongside his gunmetal-gray mother and her pod. The pink dolphin of Calcasieu Lake was first spotted June 17 by Erik Rue, a charter boat captain who operates near Lake Charles, Louisiana.

THE world's biggest car maker, General Motors, believes global oil supply has peaked and a switch to electric cars is inevitable.

In a stunning announcement at the opening of the Detroit motor show, Rick Wagoner, GM's chairman and chief executive, also said ethanol was an "important interim solution" to the world's demand for oil, until battery technology improved to give electric cars the same driving range as petrol-powered cars.

Biggest black hole in the cosmos discovered

And it's not Calcutta!

The most massive known black hole in the universe has been discovered, weighing in with the mass of 18 billion Suns. Observing the orbit of a smaller black hole around this monster has allowed astronomers to test Einstein's theory of general relativity with stronger gravitational fields than ever before.

The black hole is about six times as massive as the previous record holder and in fact weighs as much as a small galaxy. It lurks 3.5 billion light years away, and forms the heart of a quasar called OJ287. A quasar is an extremely bright object in which matter spiralling into a giant black hole emits copious amounts of radiation.

Mystery of Antarctica's 15-Million Year-Old Lake

Lake Vostok is located beneath four kilometers of ice in East Antarctica. The lake is approximately 250 km long and 50 km wide. The overlying ice provides a continuous paleo-climatic record of 400,000 years, although the lake water itself may have been isolated for as long as 15 million years.

Because of the long isolation, it's believed that Lake Vostok could contain new lifeforms, and unique geochemical processes. For five years, scientists in Russia and the United States have sought to probe the ancient lake to discover the secrets lying inside this pristine body of water.

Blonde: I just had the meanest thought in the whole world.
Guy: I doubt it.
Brunette: Tell us what it was, and then we'll judge.
Blonde: Okay, well, I hope that Tim and Tom don't realize we have a Spanish test tomorrow, because I always study way more than them and they still score, like, 20 points higher than me.
Brunette: Oh, that's not mean. There are way meaner thoughts, like I hope Tim and Tom catch rickets so they're too sick to take the test.
Guy: Yeah, or like let's force all the Jews out of Germany and burn them in an oven.
